How to Geocode an Address

Geocoding an AddressGeocoding an address can be performed in multiple locations. The icon of the Map is the indicator for where an address may be Geocoded from within the user interface. 1. Click the Map Icon. The Geocode Address window will pop-up. 2. Fill in any blank fields and click 'Get Online Geocode'. 3. If the location is not correct, or needs to be adjusted, click and drag the map pin to adjust the geocode manually.
4. Once the pin is in the correct location, select 'Save'. Route Manager Geocoding Auto GeocodeÂNew addresses need to be Geocoded before they will display correctly on the map. Until the Geocode is updated, all new addresses will have the default Geocode of 0.00/0.00. There are two primary methods to updating Geocodes: "Auto Geocode" for updating multiple Geocodes simultaneously or "Change Geocode" for a single address. 1. Click "Tools" in the upper left corner of the Route Manager and select "Auto Geocode" to bring up the Auto Geocode Window.
2. Once all appropriate options are chosen, click "Find". This will find all addresses that will be affected by the selected operation. If this list looks correct, click "Auto Geocode". The Geocodes are saved to the record automatically. This may take several minutes. Click "Close" once finished.Â
Geocode Address 1. Right-click the address in the Route Manager and click "Change Geocode". 2. This will bring up the Geocode Address window. Verify the data is correct, and click "Get Geocode Online". 3. The Geocode will be updated. Click "Save" to finish. 4. If this location is still incorrect, the geocode can be updated manually. Click the pin on the map screen and drag it to the correct location. Zoom in and out on the Map using the scroll wheel on the mouse.
